Social responsibility
BAF stands by its social responsibility. Below is an overview of initiatives that we support and certifications that distinguish us:
The BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) is a company-led initiative to improve working conditions in supply chains worldwide.
The main objective of the BSCI is to improve working conditions in global supply chains by encouraging companies to take social responsibility and promote ethical standards. This includes aspects such as working time regulations, fair pay, safe working conditions, prohibition of child labor and discrimination, as well as the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
Companies that join the BSCI undertake to implement measures to comply with these standards in their supply chains. Compliance is monitored through regular reviews and audits.
The following 13 different performance areas are assessed and evaluated:
- Social management system and its chain effect
- Involvement and protection of employees
- Right to assembly and collective bargaining
- No discrimination, violence or harassment
- Fair pay
- Reasonable working hours
- Health and safety in the workplace
- No child labor
- Special protection for young workers
- No precarious employment relationships
- No debt bondage, forced labor or human trafficking
- Protection of the environment
- Ethical business conduct
The “Better Work” label stands for an initiative launched by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation for Development (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. The aim of Better Work is to improve working conditions in the clothing and textile industry in developing and emerging countries.
The program focuses on aspects such as fair wages, working hours, health and safety in the workplace and combating discrimination and child labour.
We have been awarded this seal because our standards meet those of Better Work.
Repreve is a brand for recycled fibers, in particular polyester fibers made from recycled plastic. Repreve stands for sustainability and environmental protection, as the use of recycled material reduces waste and conserves resources.
For example, plastic bottles are transformed into certifiable, traceable, high-performance yarn. The contents of your recycling garbage can become thermo-regulating pants for hikers, moisture-wicking clothing for athletes, odor-resistant T-shirts for teenagers, fireproof sofas for slackers and water-repellent cell phone cases for accident-prone environmentalists.
